Combat
Combat and ranks
Understand skill reach, turn order, movement, and formation recovery.
Overview
Every skill has usable hero ranks and valid enemy targets. Speed influences order without making every round deterministic. Plan for enemies that push, pull, stun, or disable key actions.
Read the battle
| Term | Practical meaning |
|---|---|
| Ranks 1–4 | 1 is front; 4 is back. Hero and target rank requirements are separate. |
| Speed (SPD) | Helps initiative but does not guarantee a fixed turn order. |
| Accuracy (ACC) | Large damage is not enough if an important attack misses. |
| PROT | Protection reduces direct damage; consider damage over time or specific armor-piercing skills. |
| Bleed / blight | Damage-over-time effects check resistance and can threaten a hero at Death's Door. |
| Stun | Prevents an action when applied; watch resistance and recovery effects. |
Action priorities
Compare threats rather than health bars alone. Stunning an enemy that acts before your healer can be worth more than hitting the front target. After a shuffle, look for movement skills that also create value; manually moving four heroes may give the enemy several free actions. Marks are an investment: they work best when multiple attacks exploit the target before it dies.
Before the expedition
- Check usable and target ranks for every equipped skill.
- Bring attacks that can reach the enemy backline.
- Keep at least one way to recover formation order.
- Use control when preventing an action is worth more than immediate damage.
