Overview
Difficulty modes adjust pressure, enemies, and restrictions. Permanent death makes retreat part of strategy; losing a hero does not automatically mean losing the campaign.
Original campaign modes
| Mode | What changes | Risk |
|---|---|---|
| Radiant | Faster progression and more flexible access rules. | Permanent death remains; not a loss-free mode. |
| Darkest | Standard campaign reference. | Permanent death without Stygian's campaign failure limits. |
| Stygian | A more pressured campaign. | Failure at week 86 or 12 deaths; finish before these limits. |
| Bloodmoon | Crimson Court variant. | Limits extend to week 100 and 16 deaths. |
Before the expedition
- Read mode rules before starting a long challenge.
- Maintain more than one functional party.
- Do not concentrate every upgrade on four heroes.
- Document differences caused by DLC and campaign modifiers.
