Overview
Bosses test specific priorities such as targeting, rank, summoned objects, damage over time, or tempo. Explain the mechanic first, then offer party variations.
Eight regional bosses: preparation focus
| Boss | Region | Mechanic to plan for |
|---|---|---|
| Necromancer | Ruins | Summons skeletons and retreats; maintain reach to keep pressure on the boss. |
| Prophet | Ruins | Predicts ranks hit by rubble; prepare guard or damage reduction and rear reach. |
| Swine Prince / King / God | Warrens | Wilbur marks targets; attacking him early can trigger dangerous boss reactions. |
| Flesh | Warrens | Segments share health; choose vulnerable parts and consider damage over time. |
| Hag | Weald | The cauldron captures a hero; bring attacks that reach the Hag without relying only on front targets. |
| Brigand Pounder | Weald | The Matchman fires the cannon; killing him is a recurring priority. |
| Siren | Cove | Can take an ally; that ally's skills become risks to the party. |
| Drowned Crew | Cove | The Anchorman holds a hero and sustains the encounter; plan to break that pressure. |
Before taking a boss quest
Check the quest name and tier. A higher resolve level without matching equipment and skills does not automatically prepare a hero. Choose roles that address the encounter mechanic and preserve resources on the route. DLC bosses, roaming encounters, and the campaign finale are not included in this table.
Before the expedition
- State region, mission tier, and route context.
- Explain what makes the fight spiral out of control.
- Recommend required functions before named classes.
- Hide phase names and story reveals behind warnings.
